Text Box: Leaf:  Opposite, simple, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, 1 ½ to 4” long, ¾ to 2” wide, lustrous dark green , glabrous, entire margin.

Text Box: Twig:    Squarish, grey brown with light grey lenticels.  

Text Box: Flower:  Creamy white, fragrant, in pyramidal panicles appearing mid May.  

 

 
Text Box: Fruit:    ¼” black drupe with waxy bloom maturing in September, may persist through winter.  

 

 

 Text Box: Of interest:  This plant is often used as a hedge.  The name privet comes from its ability to provide privacy.
