Student Opportunities in the Mahon Lab at Central Michigan University

Yes, the Mahon Laboratory at CMU is recruiting students at the Ph.D., MS and undergraduate levels.

Motivated individuals (both undergraduates and potential graduate students) interested in exploring molecular ecology, aquatic detection, biodiversity, and/or evolution are encouraged to apply to the lab for student opportunities. Our lab focuses on using a molecular genetic tools to explore the ecology and evolution of aquatic and marine organisms.  For student projects, both molecular and organismal aspects will be emphasized.   Currently, the Biology Department at Central Michigan University offers Masters degrees in biology and biology with a conservation concentration.

In particular, my lab is currently looking for students interested in working on funded projects that include:

1.Antarctic phylogeography

2.Sea spider (Pycnogonida: Chelicerata) evolution and diversity

3.Aquatic and marine biodiversity and conservation

4.Functional genetics and genomics of aquatic and marine organisms

The lab explores a number of other aquatic and marine issues, and those generally interested should apply.
