The Reproductive Cycle of Simocephalus sp.

For the majority of the year the animals reproduce parothengentically. When a certain signal is recieved, thought to be crowding, some females produce an egg which becomes male. While the male is maturing a female is also maturing which is capable of producing a hapoloid egg. When the two animals reach maturity they reproduce sexually and a diploid resting egg is produced (Goldman and Horne 1983).
