I am an assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics at Central Michigan University. My pure mathematical research interests include generalisations of smooth structures (e.g. diffeology, Sikorski spaces, stacks), orbifolds, Lie groupoids, symplectic geometry, and Hamiltonian group actions. I also enjoy periodically applying my mathematical knowledge, such as using mathematical techniques to study precipitation data reported by drought stations across the US, or clustering methods that group drought stations together into homogeneous regions that show similar precipitation patterns.

Currently I am on the Scientific Committee for diffeology.net, and I run The Fishing Project (although it is in dire need of updating). More locally, I am the advisor for the Computational Mathematics and Analytics minor, and I am on both the department by-laws and curriculum committees, as well as the university graduate committee.

I was born on Prince Edward Island, in Canada, where I grew up. In fact, the header picture above is of Watts Beach on the north shore of the island. After finishing high school, I moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where I completed my BSc and MSc under the supervision of Jędrzej Śniatycki at the University of Calgary. After this, I moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where I completed my PhD under the supervision of Yael Karshon at the University of Toronto.

At the beginning of my post-doc life, I was a J. J. Uhl Research Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working with Susan Tolman. Next, I was a Burnett Meyer Postdoc in the Math Department at the University of Colorado Boulder working with Carla Farsi and Markus Pflaum. I finished my post-doctoral career with an excursion into applied mathematics and data science, working as a post-doc at the National Drought Mitigation Center, part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
